This year we have been focused on being ROOTED in Family, Community and Education. This month our focus has been on SCREEN TIME and we are excited to share our school-wide initiative on delaying smartphone ownership for students. This initiative is voluntary and simply a collaboration of families working together to Wait Til' 8th.
Smartphones have changed childhood, are highly addictive, can affect mental and physical health and many other negative outcomes. Consider waiting until at least 8th grade to introduce a smartphone. At Maple, we believe a small community committed to an initiative like this can be transformative for our students by reducing early access to apps and internet content that can have negative consequences for students.
TOGETHER, LET'S LET KIDS BE KIDS A LITTLE LONGER!
