Independent Studies

Maple Elementary School does not offer a traditional Independent Studies Program as an alternative learning setting.  However, for students that are absent between 5 and 15 school days (consecutive), a "short-term Independent Studies" option may be utilized.  Please see the following guidance below:

  • Students in grades transitional kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible for the the Short Term Independent Study Program, with the approval of the Maple Principal or Superintendent.
  • A student may be enrolled in this program for 5 to 15 days (cumulative for the year). During this time, students will receive their assignments and the resources for completing the assignments from their teacher.  All work must be completed and turned in upon return unless otherwise arranged prior to the beginning of the program.
  • Parents should request an Independent Study Master Agreement as soon as possible. Please submit the Independent Study Master Agreement at least 3 days prior to the absence date for approval.
  • Parents must both sign the agreement

The Master Agreement can be downloaded below. Please return to the Maple Administrative Office.

**For students absent from school for longer than 15 days due to a medical/doctor ordered situation, please contact the office immediately.
